In the mill types KD 6 to KD 60, the grinding beads are retained in the mill by means of a dynamic gap separator with rotor and stator made of tungsten carbide or silicon nitride. The gap width is adjustable to suit the grinding bead size. The medium-sized production mills (KD 20 B - KD 60) are also optionally available with a screen sieve separator. The KD 120 A to KD 600 types are exclusively fitted with an easily removable arched sieve. Grinding beads of different materials and sizes (0.3-2.5 mm diameter) can be used.

Shaft sealing is achieved with the single or double acting mechanical seal developed by WAB. The compact design of this unique mechanical seal permits easy and rapid replacement. The rinsing liquid device with a cooled stainless-steel container is assembled in the machine housing and easily accessible. The pressure in the rinsing circuit is adjusted by means of a control valve. Before their delivery, the double mechanical seals are always checked on leaks and quality which guarantees the reliability of the WAB seals. In addition to simple maintenance, the mechanical seals can be sent back to the factory for reconditioning. The seal subsequently is subjected to the WAB standard quality test. In this way, our customers can obtain the optimum benefit and reduce maintenance costs considerably.
