Willy A. Bachofen AG
WAB
 Company / History

History

Willy A. Bachofen founded the company in 1933. The difficult time during and after World War II was managed by him with great adroitness. He changed the simple trading and manufacturing company into an industrial enterprise. Two remarkable products were successfully introduced worldwide, in the early 1960s the TURBULA®, a three-dimensional shaker mixer, and at the end of the 60s the DYNO®-MILL, the first agitator bead mill with completely enclosed horizontal grinding cylinder.

On the 65th anniversary of the company, the actions specified by Willy A. Bachofen were implemented to ensure that the structure and independent nature of the company were maintained and the jobs of its employees were secure. These actions were also taken in the interest of both customers and agents. A company foundation transferred nearly all the shares of the company to the employees and managers of all the departments. In employment, staff members have the rights and duties of a shareholder, but have to return the shares to the foundation when they leave the company.

On 28 April 2000, Willy A. Bachofen died in Basel aged 89. His professionalism, particularly his unconditional business ethics and his sense of responsibility for the enterprise are still the guideline for every activity of Willy A. Bachofen AG.
